Note from the teacher:
I am excited to be teaching music this year at Riverwalk Academy! In class, we will be exploring music by singing, playing instruments, movement, speech, and improvisation. Students will be an active participant in an integrated, guided process, one which allows for differing musical abilities. Music making is a community experience which students will be able to grow and collaborate with each other.
Teaching Music through the Orff Approach
"Releasing creativity that extends far beyond the music classroom, Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman conceived an approach to building musicianship in every learner through the integration of music, movement, speech, and drama."
"In Orff Schulwerk classrooms, children begin with what they do instinctively: play! Imitation, experimentation, and personal expression occur naturally as students become confident, life-long musicians and creative problem solvers. The Orff approach to teaching is a model for optimal learning in 21st Century classrooms."
It's time for recorders!
3rd, 4th, & 5th Graders
The price of the recorder is $6.00. If your child currently owns a recorder, and is able to bring it and leave it at school, they will not need to purchase a new one. If you currently own one, please have your child bring their recorder to Ms. Eakes by Friday, March 16th. Students will be practicing and keeping their instruments at school. At the end of May, the recorders will be sent home.
If you would like to purchase a recorder for your child, please fill out the bottom portion of this letter and return it to me by Wednesday, March 14th. I will order the recorders on that day. If you have any financial concerns please contact me.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your interest in your child’s music education.
